Corporal David Kennedy

It is likely that this North Irish Horseman was the David Kennedy born in County Donegal around 1881, son of farmer Martha Kennedy. By 1911 he was living at Aughnish, Rathmelton, County Donegal, with his widowed mother and her sister.

Kennedy enlisted in the North Irish Horse between 16 November and 2 December 1912 (No.762). He embarked for France on 18 December 1914 with the first group of reinforcements for A and C Squadrons – Kennedy was probably posted to the latter.

He was transferred to the Labour Corps (No.415209) in October 1917, and to Class Z, Army Reserve, on 16 February 1919.
